Here's How the Plan Works
The AIChE Discount Dental Plan is not insurance. It is a reduced fee-for-service plan or ‘discount plan.’
- You pay a specified fee for dental services performed by a dentist in nationwide network. This fee is more economical than the typical fees.
- The General Dental Fees schedule outlines the covered dental procedures and services, and their reduced fees. You will never pay more than the amount listed on your fee schedule for covered services.
- There is no charge for annual oral examination and bitewing x-rays. For other procedures, you can receive up to a 60% reduction in dental fees, based on the nationwide average.
- Any procedure not listed on General Dental Fees schedule will be reduced by 25% from the network dentist's usual and customary fee.
Choosing a Plan Dentist
You can choose from among 6,000 dentists across the U.S. who participate in the network.
All of the participating dentists in the network are independent practitioners who have passed an extensive pre-screening evaluation.
All dentists are obligated to comply with the current standards of dental practice to help ensure that you and your family receive the finest in quality dental care.
You may change your dentist at any time, for any reason.
- For a complete listing of participating dentists, please use the UHP Dental Directory, or
- Call toll-free 1-800-238-3884 to find a dentist or specialist near you.
See a Specialist Without a Referral
The network includes specialists such as oral surgeons, endodontists, periodontists and orthodontists. You do not need a referral to see a specialist.
Simply choose any participating specialist in the network and you'll automatically receive a 25% reduction on the work the specialist performs.
No Charge for Annual Check-Up
Regular dental check-ups are important to maintaining good health and preventing problems. One of the Discount Dental Plan's best features is preventive care. You and your family receive a free oral examination and any necessary x-rays once per membership year at no cost when received in conjunction with a paid annual check-up prophylaxis (cleaning).
That's a 100% instant discount for an annual oral exam with bitewing x-rays. (A nominal fee may be charged in certain states.)
The cost of teeth cleaning is also substantially reduced. Refer to the General Dental Fees schedule for a list of preventive services and reduced fees.

- Locate a network dentist or specialist near you by reviewing the list sent to you or
calling toll-free, 1-800-238-3884.
